So...finally have these things going...hopefully I'm using them correctly
Brewery of the Week: Prost Brewing
February 2, 2014
Das ist Bier! While allot of the breweries in Denver tend to focus on English and American style ales, Prost has taken a decidedly unique approach to the Denver beer scene in focusing on traditional German styles of beer. The result is one of the best lineups of beer in town, period (want to disagree with me on that? Them’s fightin’ words and I’ll meet you at the flag pole after school!) These guys really know their stuff and it shows in every pint.
So what do I drink when I’m at Prost? Well pretty much everything depending on my mood but I will always ALWAYS have at least two Prost Pils. I’ll be honest, if I could only drink one beer for the rest of my life this would be on the short list of brews I would choose from. The Altfränkisches Dunkel Bier (If you can pronounce that first word in the Dunkel’s name finish your pint and get a new one, you deserve it) is probably what Prost is best known for and for good reason, it’s always amazing. This is the beer that I imagine was the secret recipe in Beer-fest (If you haven’t watched that movie that’s probably why you feel sad on the inside….just so you know). As I mentioned before everything else on the regular lineup is fantastic as well, and there is a good beer for every season and mood when you get there.
The brewery’s taproom is one of the most comfortable in town. The long tables and benches both inside and out front almost force you to have a conversation with someone you don’t know over a pint, which adds to the positive friendly atmosphere. I’ve found the people with whom I have said conversations are most often fellow beer nerds, which gives this place added bonus points. Everything in the building is intentionally German, which I find makes drinking out of an enormous stein all the more acceptable (It also makes me want to eat schnitzel and watch a movie with Rutger Hauer in it…is that weird?). Long story short, Prost is a brewery that you should not miss in Denver. I could drawl on and on as to why, but it’s probably better for you to just go there and find out for your self.
