So...finally have these things going...hopefully I'm using them correctly
November Blog Preview: Globetrotting and brew making
November 3, 2014
I am having a hard time comprehending how we are already in November. It feels as though October lasted just a matter of days and we should still be prepping for Halloween (and I hope you all had a good Halloween by the way). For allot of reasons, November is a bit of a loaded month for me; both emotionally and the volume of notable events that take place. My goal is to make all of these events and hurdles that are coming my way this month something positive, if they aren’t already so, and in so doing creating new opportunities to share some awesomeness with you all on the blog. While I don’t have the whole month fleshed out, here are a few of the things that you can expect to see here in the near future:
Making some Scrumpy Style Cider
This of course is the prize for the October contest. Speaking of which, it’s time to announce the winner. There were allot of great entries, from which the moniker for the cider was drawn at random. And with that, I would like to congratulate Steve Van Wasshenova for naming the “Hello, my name is Steve” Cider (yes……that is actually what won).
The brewing gets kicked off tomorrow evening, and I will be taking pictures and posting a full slide show on Flickr.
Meine Reise nach Deutschland
I had mentioned previously that my birthday present to myself would be a trip to Munich as a reward for surviving all of the struggles of the past year. As it so happens, my birthday is next Saturday which is also the day I will be landing in Germany. It’s likely that y’all won’t hear much from me during my time there, but I will try to post a few updates on the tweet-face-space as I am able.
I do plan to take allot of pictures and will put a full summary up upon my return (it might take a few days…jet lag is not my friend).
This month’s contest will easily be one of the most enticing I’ve done so far. I’m still working out the details but I will give you a clue as to the prize : It’s coming back from Germany with me….
I already have a few ideas for Homebrew 101 posts that I hope to get on the blog this month. Some of them will directly correlate with my own brewing activities, so the goal will be to make them more visual and include some purdy pictures to go with the topics (you know, so it’s not so Ben Stein-y for all of you non-brewers out there). Look for the first post within a few days of starting the cider this week.
Beer and Chainsaws
This one may or may not happen. I haven’t had the need to have a chainsaw night in a while, but this week in particular will be a test of that resolve. If I do need to do a little of this self therapy I appreciate you all just rolling with it.
Breweries and Bombers of the Week
Of course these staples of the blog won’t be going anywhere. As this month kicks off the holidays and with that comes travel to see friends and family, I will likely be seeking out new places near my loved ones in the state that make beer worth talking about.
Alright folks, I think that just about covers what I have planned for the next month. As always, if there is something you would like to see on the blog feel free to let me know! I’m looking forward to sharing all of the new discoveries and journeys that November has in store with all of you, and to find new reasons to share a few pints with y’all. Cheers everyone!
