So...finally have these things going...hopefully I'm using them correctly
February Preview: I’ll take a Pumpkin Peach Ale please….
February 4, 2015
Welcome to February folks! Now that we’ve all had a few days to get our whit’s about us from this weekend (I’m still trying to get my head on straight after the Mountain Dew acid trip commercial from Sunday….you know the one) I think it’s time to take a look at the awesome reading candy you’ll be getting on the blog this month:
Awesometastic Contest Action
First, I want to congratulate Sara Rowan for winning the tap handle from January’s Contest! This one wasn’t easy, but she was the first person to submit all of the right answers (sorry Steve, but you had already won one as it is). Just in case you were interested, here are the answers to all of the questions:
Mountain Pine Beetle
Congrats again to Ms Rowan, very well done. As far as the February contest goes, it will be something a little less question-y and is going to require allot more sharing from y’all (sharing is caring dude, don’t make it awkward…). More to come on that later this week.
The Pumpkin Peach Tour
It should come as no surprise that the reaction by many breweries to the über smug “Were not smug” commercial by budweiser this weekend has been to brew a swath of Pumpkin Peach Ales, which if you don’t know what this is referencing you need to go watch the budweiser commercials from the super bowl on YouTube after reading this. To support this thumb flicking gesture to the evil empire of brewing, I plan on doing a tasting tour to a handful of the local breweries that are participating in this endeavor. I fully expect that these creations will not only warrant a riveting discussion and dissection between my peers and I but will also be better than the rice water to which they were compared in that ad.
Homebrew 101 Changes
One of my goals this month is to provide more recipes to y’all who might be interested in trying a few of my creations. As I did with the mead post a little while back (feel free to read it if you haven’t already) I plan to share everything that I’m brewing this month as I brew it, in the hopes that at least a few of you might try your hand at the recipes I’ve concocted and let me know how they turn out. I should really clarify on this one as not all of the homebrew 101 posts going forward will stray from the standard format of providing tips and tricks, you’ll just be getting a few extra goodies along the way.
The Usual Stuff
Of course, there will be plenty of Bombers/Breweries of the week, Thinkin’ Beer Posts and things to keep you non-beer folks entertained. As always if you have any recommendations for something you think would be good for any of these topics feel free to send it to me on the blog for or on them there social media interweb page-a-megiggers and there’s a good chance you’ll see something about it on the blog. Alright, that’s all for tonight but there is plenty more coming your way. Cheers Everyone!
