So...finally have these things going...hopefully I'm using them correctly
Brewery of the Week: Baere Brewing Co.
May 18, 2015
The brewery featured in this week’s post came to my attention through pure coincidence. I was en-route to my favorite metal centric places for a beer, when I happened to glance over at a rather grimm looking strip mall next to the light at which I was stopped. In between the check cashing location and the laundromat was an unassuming sign for a brewery. I shouldn’t have been as surprised as I was at the time, after all a great many of breweries in the Denver area are housed in such locations. Being that finding something by coincidence has led to more pleasant experiences than anything else, I decided to turn on my blinker and change my destination. This led me through the doors of Baere Brewing Co, a place I am happy had caught my eye.
Looking at the beer menu at Baere, it is evident that this is a brewery for beer lovers by beer lovers. In contrast to many emerging breweries lineups, this one features a high degree of variation in what is on tap. This list had a few standouts for me, in particular the JPO’H Dark Irish Red, which had the properties of a well-rounded Scottish Ale (although never tell an actual Irish person that something they make tastes Scottish….). I was also impressed by the Farmhouse, which had just the right balance of sour and tart notes while remaining incredibly crisp in the finish. While sipping my pint, I came to the conclusion that the interior of Baere could pass for my dream home. The elegant art on the walls covered in pallet pieces casually hints at the places layer of cool, while the lines of kegs and Cicerone books on the bar ( there was a blog post about Cicerone a little while back if you’re not sure what that is…..) remind everyone why this place is here. The guys who run Baere are also friendly and laid back and more than willing to talk shop with some fellow beer nerds.
I find myself fortunate to have had this coincidental encounter with a new brewery in the vicinity of so many seasoned beer makers. It won’t be long before Baere has a reputation of this caliber, and I hope you all take the time to pay them a visit to find out why. Cheers Everyone!
