So...finally have these things going...hopefully I'm using them correctly
Summer is Coming: The June Blog Preview
June 4, 2015
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of awesome. The finale of my first semester in a master’s program, my new position at work providing some welcome challenges to keep me on my toes and of course, Denver Comic Con. These and many other things have kept me busy to say the least, and has happened a few times in the past this hectic schedule has resulted in a neglect of the blog. The lack of both the act of writing and interaction with all of you good folks who take the time to read my posts has left me feeling a bit unsatisfied despite all of the other goings on; so this month I am endeavoring to find ways to combine writing posts on a regular basis with all of this month’s upcoming adventures (and there will be actual adventuring taking place….so much adventuring). So without further yammering from my end, here are a few things that you can expect from the blog this month:
A new approach to Homebrew 101:
Most of the posts in this category have been in realms of either tips and tricks or the science of brewing. With summer finally arriving in Denver (not that the twenty something days in a row of rain weren’t awesome, I’m a north westerner at heart) I’ve decided to put a spin on this category by finding ways to correlate some of the outdoor activities that are synonymous with this season in Colorado with the art of making beer. This might include anything from camping in the mountains to biking through Denver so keep an eye out for a little something different.
Brewing for Summer
I have a few beer recipes I’ve created over the years that are best made and consumed on warm sunny days. We’ve had the first few of those in Denver for the year this week I am taking that as a sign that it’s time to start getting these brews ready to go. I hope to do at least one this month, and I will be documenting the whole thing with some pretty pictures and a play by play. I may even have a few guest brewers (you know who you are) to make the experience and beer all the more interesting.
This is a bit of a tumultuous topic for me. It has been a few months since the last contest that I attempted to have on the blog; a contest for which there were no participants. I took this as an indicator that this was not something for which anyone had any interest. Nonetheless I do very much want to give back to those of you who continue to pop onto the blog, and I did very much enjoy what the contests brought. So in order to gauge whether there is any interest in my bringing back this practice giving away goodies and interaction from y’all I am proposing this: IF I have at least three of you give me your ideas for a fun contest on Liquid Bread, via the blog’s contact form or social media, I will make one of said suggestions the contest. If this is something you would like to see it’s on you to let me know, if not the blog will still be awesome and fun for all of us.
The Journey to Iceland
This month will also see my next trip abroad. On June 20th, a day that will forever represent something painful but important in my life, I will be stepping aboard an IcelandAir plane to Reykjavik (see, I told you there were adventures). Among the many shenanigans that are on the agenda for this journey is an exploration of Iceland’s brewing scene. Beer has only been legal in Iceland since 1989, so this provide an exciting opportunity to experience beers and breweries in an environment that are still largely in their infancy. At the very least, you all can expect pictures to be tweeted during this odyssey and a full scale epic on the blog when I return.
There you have it folks, the big ticket items for the month of June. Of course there will also be a smattering of Breweries and Bombers of the Week, Thinkin’ Beer posts and a few other things along the way. Here’s to a good start to what is shaping up to be a great June that I look forward to sharing with you all. Cheers everyone!
