So...finally have these things going...hopefully I'm using them correctly
Pumpkins and Junk: A look at what’s coming on the blog in September
September 3, 2015
Hey, how’ve ya been? Haven’t seen you guy in a while. Things good? How are the kids? Good? That’s good. I figure since it’s been a spell since I’ve been able to post on the blog (a few weeks counts a spell right? If any of you are from Mississippi let me know if that’s accurate) and we are at the start of a new month, it’s time to get back in the swing of writing as much as I am able. Luckily I’ve had enough time to plan accordingly this time around so get ready to have some posts thrown at them eye holes of yours.
Brew Photo Journal:
Recently I got the Sopapilla stout underway for the big event later this month (more on that in the last month's contest post....). Sadly, there were not pictures to record the event and in retrospect it was something that I should have included here. Since shoulda coulda woulda never solved anything, I’ve decided that the next brew will be fully detailed. Rather than writing descriptions that don’t fully capture the process I’ve come to the conclusion this process is best presented in photo form. So, this weekend when I make my maple walnut brown ale you can expect more pictures than words, showing the step by step process by which it will be made.
Beer Critique: Pumpkin Ales
Much to the chagrin of myself and a great many of my friends and family, stores are already starting to put out their fall and Halloween wares (It’s not until next month dammit!) One such item that is currently making an appearance on store shelves is Pumpkin beer. I have a rather high expectation for said variety of brews, mostly because the majority of them tend to taste like chewing on nutmeg and a cinnamon stick. There are a select few out there that are truly wonderful and capture the feeling of Fall in a bottle. With this seasonal variety within our collective grasp, I’ve decided to use it to do a critique and present my top 5 choices on the blog. If you have any recommendations in the pumpkin beer category before this post goes up, be sure to let me know so it can be given a fair shake in the taste test.
This month will also see me doing my share of travelling, although these trips are more to do with nerdy work stuff and being a code monkey. Nonetheless, these should still provide an opportunity to try some new and exciting beers from places outside of Colorado. Whether they are good are bad I will be sure to write about my findings for y’all.
With contests back in the picture, it’s time to give y’all something fun for this month. Without spoiling the contest, I can say it will have to do with something already written in this post (Bam! Let the “Where’s Waldo”-ing begin) so keep an eye out for more details on that.
Of course, there will also be Thinkin’ Beer, Homebrew 101 and bombers/breweries of the week coming as well. I’m off to rock the awesome (i.e. Eat some ice cream and fall asleep on the couch) I’m looking forward to getting my write on this month and I hope y’all enjoy it as well. Cheers everyone!
