So...finally have these things going...hopefully I'm using them correctly
October Blog Contest: Artsy Fartsy Time
October 11, 2015
( painting by Karen Eland)
I’ve long realized that a great many of my friends and family are creative types. You all run the gamut from those who do creative things as a hobby and unwind to full blown art hippies (you know who you are if you are in the latter category, I’ve probably given you that title in person before). I have nothing but respect for those with more than an inkling to make expressive work, as this is a trait that sadly is lost on some of the more boring people in the world. I too enjoy creating things, the most prominent of these stimulating activities for me being homebrew of course. Whenever possible I try to support the artistic efforts of those important to me, from attending shows at art galleries to buying nifty cards from an Etsy store (cough, cough, One Creative Bird, cough cough…). Because so many of you have these talents, I’ve decided to make that the central part of this month’s contest.
Here’s how it will work:
In the next few days I will finally be brewing my Maple Walnut Brown Ale. While it is fermenting for the remainder of October, I will be in need of a title to associate with it. This time however, it won’t be as simple as thinking up a clever name. For this contest, you will need to submit both a name for the beer AND a piece of original artwork that would serve as a label. It can be as simple or elaborate as you wish (although if you phone it in with a bunch of clip art that obviously took about 30 seconds you will catch some crap from me..) but the entry must be an original piece that you’ve made. On November 1st I will be announcing the winner.
What do you get in return for your time and effort? Well, the winner will receive four (4) bombers of the Maple Walnut Brown Ale which will include labels featuring the art and title from their entry. What you do with them is your choice, but you can’t win if you don’t enter so break out the water colors (or whatever medium you choose) and get to makin’ stuff!
I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with and hope that this gives everyone a good excuse to let their artsy side out. Good luck and Cheers Everyone!
